🐾 Meet Mackenzie – Founder, Tooth Fairy, and Chief Wag Officer

Mackenzie Everston has been cleaning dogs’ teeth longer than most pups have been alive — starting her apprenticeship in 2012 and never looking back. She discovered her passion instantly, knowing this work wasn’t just a job — it was her calling.

In 2016, she founded Coastal Canines Teeth Cleaning, and today the company spans Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, Cariboo, Okanagan, and Kootenay regions, offering sedation-free dental care that’s as compassionate as it is effective.

With a deep focus on fear-free handling and trauma-informed care, Mackenzie specializes in working with dogs who need extra time, patience, and trust — especially anxious or fear-aggressive pups. Her approach is intuitive, calm, and grounded in the belief that every dog deserves dignity and gentle care.

When she’s not running the show, Mackenzie can be found strolling through the woods on a misty day, spoiling neighborhood cats, or dreaming up new ways to educate pet owners and professionals on the power of sedation-free dentistry.

She leads with heart, grit, and just the right amount of dog hair on her sweater.

Mackenzie has always had a love for animals but knew immediately after starting her apprenticeship in 2012 that this was her passion. Her goals include educating pet owners and professionals about the ins and outs of sedation-free teeth cleaning and helping aid others to do the same.

Marie - Team Lead

🐾 Meet Marie – Mobile Technician & Certified Dog Cuddler

Marie is the kind of person dogs instantly vibe with — calm, kind, and somehow always carrying a treat in her pocket. She’s currently training with K9 Gentle Dental and soon to be fully certified, bringing her gentle touch and big heart to our Coastal Canines mobile team.

Whether it’s a nervous chihuahua or a drooly lab with a gummy grin, Marie knows just how to put dogs at ease. She believes every cleaning should feel like a spa day (minus the cucumbers), and she’s passionate about fear-free care, clear communication, and giving every pup the positive experience they deserve.

Off the clock, Marie’s world revolves around her two beloved dogs: Happy (the true boss of the house) and Tipper (resident goofball and cuddle bug). They’ve taught her everything she knows about patience, unconditional love, and how to vacuum daily without losing her mind.
